Glam Slam: The Friday Five – What Is Style?

New York Fashion Week wrapped up with Spring 2014 looks from Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Reed Krakoff, to name a few. Some trends we noticed on the runways that we can’t wait for are oversized clutches, black and white ensembles, animal prints, bomber jackets, and leather. Lots of leather.

Though we’re craving the Spring 2014 trends now, we’re wondering how to make them work with our personal style. With so many trends to choose from, styling your wardrobe can be a bit overwhelming, especially when trying to stay true to your signature look.

Navigating the crowds at NYFW in our stilettos, Glam Slam caught up with a few fashion superstars and asked them how they define personal style.

Michael Kors: “Style is knowing yourself and being able to pick what’s right for you. Stay true to yourself!”

Kate Upton: “Style, I feel like, is everything. I mean it’s really who you are and how you express yourself. It’s not just about the clothes, it’s your essence and the clothes just describe what you’re feeling.”

Danielle Brooks: “I don’t want to sound corny, but style starts within you. It comes from within more than just the big [designer] names and such.”

Katie Holmes: “I love a person who is just themselves!”

Betsey Johnson: “Style is who you are. What you are. The heart, the soul, and the head.”
