Grammys 2017: Adele On Her Love For Beyoncé & Honoring George Michael

Adele is one devoted member of the Beyhive.

Following her sweep at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, the vocal powerhouse told reporters in the press room how “honored and privileged” she felt to have been nominated alongside Beyoncé in the night’s major categories.

“She is my icon, my whole life,” Adele said of the “Formation” singer, adding that Bey was “gracious and humble” when they spoke after the ceremony.

Adele addressed her fellow music superstar from the podium while accepting Album of the Year honors for “25,” a gesture she said felt she needed to make because of her own admiration for Bey’s work.

“My album of the year is ‘Lemonade,'” the “Hello” singer told reporters of Bey’s acclaimed 2016 record, explaining how she’s admired the artist since childhood.

Adele recalled having heard Bey’s former girl group, Destiny’s Child, for the first time when she was 11 years old, and that the experience has remained unforgettable.

“I remember it so clearly, hearing her voice, hearing all their voices, but hers specifically,” Adele said of Bey.

“I fell in love, immediately, with her,” she added.

Although 17 years have gone by since Adele first became a Beyoncé fan, she said her reaction to the star’s music hasn’t waned.

“The way I felt when I first heard [the Destiny’s Child song] ‘No, No, No’ was exactly the same as how I felt when I heard ‘Lemonade,'” she said.

Beyoncé isn’t the only music legend who made an early impression on Adele.

The 28-year-old also touched upon her George Michael tribute performance from earlier in the evening, which she stopped mid-song and started over after apologizing to the crowd.

Adele admitted that the moment “devastated” her, but said she was determined to give the late “Fastlove” singer the honor she felt he deserved.

Calling George “one of the truest icons,” Adele praised him for having stayed “loyal” to himself throughout his career – something she said serves as inspiration for her.

However, George’s talents weren’t the only thing that caught her attention.

“I was blown away by how f***ing hot he was,” Adele laughed.
