Harry Shum Jr. Talks ‘Glee’ Michael Jackson Episode: Kevin McHale Will ‘Blow People Away’

“Glee” and Michael Jackson fans are eagerly awaiting tonight’s episode which will celebrate the music of the late pop star and Harry Shum Jr. says Kevin McHale, in particular, is going to wow the audience.

“You’ll see [Kevin] dancing,” Harry told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live, referring to Kevin’s Artie character, who is in a wheelchair.

“Kevin is what is going to blow people away,” the 29-year-old explained. “He’s dancing!”

Harry told Billy and Kit that he and Kevin – both huge fans of Jackson – were instrumental in helping to shape tonight’s episode.

“Ryan [Murphy] was like, ‘Anyone who has any ideas for the Michael [episode], come tell us,” he said. “We were like, ‘OK cool, we’ll make a list.’ And [Ryan] was like, ‘Actually, you’re going to come pitch it to the writers. We had like two minutes to put it together and [we had] this whole PDF file… we made CDs for all the writers.”

And though Harry – who will be performing “Scream” with Kevin tonight – is known for his fancy footwork, the skilled dancer admitted that he was scared to take on Jackson’s moves.

“All of us [were nervous]! Even me!” he told Billy and Kit. “It’s scary. He has legions of fans. We wanted to do it justice and I think we were able to give our spice to it, the ‘Glee’ version of it.”

“Glee’s” “Michael” episode airs tonight on FOX at 8 PM ET/PT.
