Healthy Hollywood: Kristin Chenoweth’s Tips For A Balanced Life

Emmy and Tony award-winning star Kristin Chenoweth is one busy lady.

Her multi-faceted career takes her from the stage to film to TV to her singing career. Right now, she’s busy touring and performing songs from her album “Some Lessons Learned.”

“It’s been pretty crazy. I try and balance stuff and drink a lot of water and get enough sleep but even that’s a challenge,” she reveals to Healthy Hollywood.

The petite dynamo reveals one of her biggest challenges is remembering to slow down.

“The honest truth it is a life challenge that I need to work at. I have to be diligent because my nature is not to eat and to forget to take care of my body. And, then by the time you realize you didn’t eat day, then you eat like crap. So, I constantly have to work at it and not forget to eat every couple of hours. I need to keep my energy up and eat protein. Plus, I’m a firm believer in sleep. If you can really get a good sleep, at least 7 hours a night, you can generally add years to your life,” Kristin notes.

And, her favorite age-defying trick is the inexpensive skincare, Bio-Oil, adding, “I put it on areas of my face that I would like to look less evident of ‘hard living’ and it works.”

Adding to her already packed schedules, she’s getting ready to host the PBS Arts Fall Festival, which is a weekly program featuring Broadway classics and musical performances. As part of the special, Kristin will return to her small hometown in Oklahoma to perform music from her career.

“I come from a community where everybody knows everybody’s business and sometimes that’s annoying. But, at the end of my life, I’m so thankful I am from there. Anyone I know there would give me the shirt off their back and I would do the same for them. I love where I grew up and it’s a great place to grow up. I think it helped in my evolution as person and where I’m at today. I’m so thankful I had down-to-earth parents and grew up the way I did – very modest,” reveals Kristin.

And, it’s her love of family and nostalgia that has made taking care of her possessions a priority; especially her childhood piano. She’s a big believer in making sure you document your belongings in case one day they are stolen or destroyed. For this reason, she’s a paid spokesperson for Allstate and is getting the word out on their “Protect It or Lose It” campaign.

“It’s a simple message; know the value of the possessions in your home,” she concludes.
