Healthy Hollywood: Wellness Wednesday – Superman Grooming!

“Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill is certainly the hot guy of the moment.

The British actor’s sculpted superhero body has women swooning coast-to-coast.

“It’s not just any old role. It’s a very important one and I wanted to physically represent the character properly,” revealed Henry to Access Hollywood.

Healthy Hollywood can assure Henry that he does justice to the iconic tight-fitting superman suit.

The 30 year-old might even motivate those coach-potato guys to hit the gym or take their grooming up a notch. And, ladies, you can certainly take a role in getting your guy in superman condition — especially in the grooming department. “Women can educate the men in their lives, or simply just buy them the essentials. Every man should cleanse, shave, moisturize and use a SPF with broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection,” advises Kiehl’s President Chris Salgrado.

To meet men’s special skincare needs, Kiehl’s created their Facial Fuel line. And, the popular skincare line recently released “Heavy Lifting,” which is their new men’s anti-aging moisturizer. “Facial Fuel Heavy Lifting is a daily anti-aging moisturizer especially created for men to firm lift and fight wrinkles in just four weeks,” adds Salgrado.

According to the experts, men are increasingly concerned about maintaining a youthful appearance and are no longer hesitant to express their vanity. After all, it is macho to want to look good and impress the ladies. But, men shouldn’t use the same skincare products as women. “Men tend to have larger pores, which can easily get clogged – encouraging blemishes and ingrown hairs.

Men also tend to have thicker, more dense, oiler skin due to the fact that their skin produces more sebum. This means they sweat more, leading to over-cleansing and drying skin out or stripping the skin,” states Salgrado.

To maintain a more youthful complexion, men should invest in a good cleanser, use a moisturizer with SPF and get a facial – at least once in a while.

Kiehl’s also shares with Healthy Hollywood their tips smoothing shaving.

  1. Shave every other daily, rather than daily.
  2. Discard razor after 2 -3 uses. Dull blades result in razor bumps.
  3. Do not pull the skin taut when shaving.
  4. Do not tweeze ingrown hairs! This may cause skin damage, and increases the likelihood of more ingrown hair.
