Hillary Clinton’s Advice For Michelle Obama: ‘Be Conscious Of The Impact On Your Children’

Former First Lady Hillary Clinton has some advice for future first lady Michelle Obama — to be mindful of the effect the presidency has on her children.

Access Hollywood caught up with President-elect Barack Obama’s former Democratic competitor at the 2008 Glamour Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where Clinton said she had recently shared some pearls of wisdom with Michelle Obama

However, the Senator remained mum on most of the advice she offered Michelle.

“Well, I’ve talked with Michelle and I’ll probably keep our advice between us, but I think they are great parents, they have two wonderful young daughters,” Clinton told Access.

Clinton did note that the job comes with both, the good and bad.

“It’s both. A great experience, but also it’s something that you have to be conscious of the impact on your children at all times [and] at different ages,” she told Access. “But, I have every confidence they’re just going to do a great job.”

She said constant security was just part of the job of the First Lady and her family.

“You have to accept the fact that you need the security, that it is unfortunately part of the job. You want to minimize the impact on your girls and you want them to be in a setting where they can just be as regular and normal as possible,” Clinton said.

One way to accomplish this would be to bring Sasha’s and Malia’s friends over to the White House, according to Clinton.

“You want to have them around people they already know, as well [bringing] their new friends into the White House,” Clinton added. “I think they’ll get it down and they’ll do it exactly right.”
