Is Ricky Gervais Returning As Golden Globes Host?

Will Ricky Gervais be returning to host the Golden Globes – and is Hollywood reading for a few more jabs?

According to The New York Post’s Page Six, the British funnyman was spotted having dinner recently with Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Aida Takla-O’Reilly and NBC’s Doug Vaughan in Paris.

According to an onlooker, “The Champagne was flowing and glasses were clinking.”

NBC declined to comment when contacted by Page Six.

In August, Ricky suggested that NBC wants him to come back as host when the Globes return in 2012.

“NBC have offered it — they think they can persuade the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” he said at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International TV Festival at the time, per The Hollywood Reporter.

“But I don’t think they will go for it. I love NBC and I love the fact that they have stuck with me through it all,” he added.

Following the 2011 raucous show, where Ricky took jabs at Robert Downey Jr., John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Charlie Sheen, HFPA President Philip Berk said, “He definitely crossed the line.

“And some of the things were totally unacceptable. But that’s Ricky… I had absolutely no idea what Ricky was going to say so anything I heard was heard was the same time you heard it,” Berk continued. “When you hire Ricky Gervais, you expect the unexpected.”
