Jack Wagner Returning As Frisco Jones On General Hospital

Frisco Jones is heading back to Port Charles.

ABC confirmed to Access Hollywood that Jack Wagner will reprise the role he originated in the 1980s on “General Hospital,” beginning next month.

Jack’s first episode will air on February 4, just a week before the return of another famous “GH” face – Genie Francis as Laura Spencer on February 11.

Kristina Wagner, who plays Felicia Jones, Frisco’s ex, returned to the soap last year in a storyline involving their TV daughter – Maxie (who was, at the time being played by Jen Lilley, but is back to being played by Kristen Storms).

Bringing Jack and Genie back will only help make “General Hospital’s” 50th anniversary, on April 1, that much bigger of an affair. (Genie’s return date is exactly 50 days before the 50th anniversary.)

Speaking earlier this month to AccessHollywood.com about the return of Genie, Emmy winner Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis, hinted big things were in store for Port Charles.

“She’s coming back. Pretty much anyone who has ever been on the show will be back between now and the Nurses Ball,” Nancy said, making reference to the big charity bash being set up by Sabrina, to take the city by storm.

Lisa Lo Cicero, who plays Dante’s mother, Olivia, on the show, said she is hoping to share the screen with Genie.

“For me personally, I’ve been watching the show for 30 years, so for me, it’s super exciting,” Lisa told Access at ABC’s post-Television Critics Association bash earlier in the month.

“Our characters have never met, but we’re in-laws,” she added, referring to how Olivia’s son, Dante, is married to Laura’s daughter, Lulu Spencer. “So I expect that we will have to have some screen time together, which is pretty exciting.”

There has been a flood of former “GH” stars who have returned in the last year and Nancy said it has been good for the show.

“We were in such a state of terminal illness on ‘General Hospital’ that whatever they do, or have done, to turn this show around, which they have succeeded at, is good for everybody,” she said. “I can’t think of just me, I can’t think of just the actors, it’s more the crew, the wardrobe people, the makeup people. ‘General Hospital’ employs a lot of people, so whatever works, whatever it takes to make it work, is good for people who need their jobs a lot more than the actors.”

Nancy also gave credit to “General Hospital’s” recent good fortune with viewers to the “One Life To Live” cast members (Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson) settling in.

“I think that mattered,” she said when Access asked if she thought the bringing “OLTL” stars to “GH” helped. “I was real believer in, ‘they had their own audience,’ and you bring some of them over, then you are going to bring some of them [along too]. It’s like good math. It just makes good sense.”

“General Hospital” airs weekdays on ABC.
