Jane Lynch Dishes On Shocking ‘Glee’ Star Exits & Emmy Hosting Preps

Gleeks everywhere were left a bit stunned on Wednesday after “Glee” showrunner Ryan Murphy announced that series stars Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith would not return for Season 4.

However, Jane Lynch — who plays Cheerios coach/resident meanie Sue Sylvester on the FOX hit — says that despite fan disappointment over the trio’s impending exit, she trusts Ryan Murphy’s judgment.

“[Ryan] rarely makes bad calls,” Jane told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover of the decision to give the three young stars the boot during a phone interview on Thursday’s Access Hollywood Live. “But I think it’s kind of cool that they will graduate.

“And I also think it’s kind of cool that the teachers get to stay!” she added with a laugh, referring to her own character’s tenure.

Jane was honored for her work on the show with both a Golden Globe award and an Emmy Award in 2010, as well a Best Supporting Actress nomination on Thursday morning.

However, this year, Jane will return to the Emmys in a different capacity than just hopeful winner — she’ll also be serving as the famed award ceremony’s host.

“I have some great writers who are on it right now, and I think [the show] is going to be really funny,” she told Billy and Kit of her Emmy preparations. “We’ll have some singing, we’ll have some dancing.”

The actress – who is celebrating her 51st birthday today! – also shared her joy over her fellow “Glee” coaching staff Emmy nominee – Dot-Marie Jones (who plays the fictional high school’s football coach).

“She’s the best. She’s such a wonderful actress and a consummate professional,” Jane raved when asked if she was excited for Dot-Marie’s first Emmy nomination, up for the award in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. “I’m a big fan of Dot’s, so that really warmed my heart.”

The 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 18.
