Jennifer Grey On The Mend Following Surgery For ‘Dancing’ Injury

Jennifer Grey is on the mend, following a surgery to repair an injury she sustained while fox trotting to victory on Season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars,” a rep for the actress confirmed to Access Hollywood.

The mom, actress and most recent “DWTS” mirrorball winner recently had a ruptured disc in her back repaired, People first reported on Monday.

Dr. Robert S. Bray Jr. removed what the mag described as “a huge fragment” from Jennifer’s back during the procedure, which was a success.

Jennifer sustained the injury during the first night of the “DWTS” two-night Season 11 finale, the week of Thanksgiving. She was almost unable to dance during the final episode due to the injury, but battled through, and – of course – picked up the trophy with professional partner Derek Hough.

“I’m still recovering at home,” Jennifer told People of how she’s doing following the surgery. “I have to rest a bit more, but I feel great – completely pain free.”

Last month, Jennifer explained to Access Hollywood that the procedure to repair her ruptured disc would not be as big as other ones previously performed to fix her neck issues, which stemmed from a car accident in the late ‘80s.

“It’s just gonna be like a little surgery where they take out the ruptured disc thing, and you know, it won’t be a big deal. Compared to the other surgeries I had on my neck, my doctor says it won’t be a big deal,” Jennifer said at the time. “I’ll be home that night.”

The actress clarified at the time that her ruptured disc was not related to her neck problems.

“My neck is fine,” she said. “My neck did really well because it has a steel plate in it. So, it was really, actually, [it’s] probably the strongest part of my body.”
