Jeremy Renner Enjoying His Post-Bourne Gym Break

Taking over the “Bourne” franchise from Matt Damon is a huge weight to carry for “The Bourne Legacy’s” Jeremy Renner, not to mention all the other weights he had to lug around getting in shape for the action movie.

Access Hollywood caught up with the actor at the movie’s premiere in New York City on Monday night, where he was enjoying a break from working on his “Bourne” body.

“I haven’t been in the gym in three-and-a-half months and I’m very happy about that,” the actor – who plays Jason Bourne’s fellow agent, Aaron Cross, in the Tony Gilroy-directed movie — told Access.

The 41-year-old actor was required to log a full day sweating it out for the movie.

“You get up at four in the morning and work out for eight hours and fight and stretch and do all this stuff because it’s part of your job,” he continued. “But I’m not doing that if I’m not working.”

Damon is not involved in the latest “Bourne” project, but Jeremy is open to a possible collaboration with the original star.

“What’s exciting about the movie is that there’s many ways it can go… and I’m very excited about any direction it goes,” he told Access. “Working with Matt would be f***ing awesome…there’s loads of ways it can go.”

“The Bourne Legacy” opens in theaters on August 10.
