Jimmy Fallon Explains His Other Hand Injury

Jimmy Fallon can take a fall and keep on laughing.

The late night host joked about injuring his hand while being honored by the Harvard Lampoon over the weekend.

“Welcome to ‘The Tonight Show,'” Jimmy said. “I am your host, Trippy Fallon.”

Sporting a yellow construction hat and safety goggles and his hand covered in “Sesame Street” Band-Aids, Jimmy joked about what went down when he went down.

“This time, I injured my other hand right after getting an award from Harvard,” he said. “Even after getting into Harvard, I still embarrass my parents… Fans sent me get-well-soon cards, while my hand doctor sent me a picture of his new Ferrari.”

All jokes aside, Jimmy explained how he ended up in the hospital.

“Saturday, I was inducted into the Harvard Lampoon and given the Elmer Award. It was a big deal for me,” he said. “We’re at a parade in Cambridge. I was on a chariot and I had a horse take me through Harvard Square and I was waving at everybody. It was really fun… Later that night, they’re going to do a laser light show at the thing with the Harvard band. They’re out there and they’re unbelievably great. And there are lasers out there and smoke, and it just got dark. It was probably around 8:30 or something; I don’t know what time it was. I go, ‘Maybe I’ll present them with some type of award,’ because it’s nice for the band. They don’t get paid for this. So, I go, ‘Somebody give me a bottle of Jägermeister and I’ll present that to the band like that’s an award for them.’ So, somebody gives me a bottle of Jagermeister. They get it from inside; I’m out on the street.

“Apparently some girl was going to kneel down to give me a flower or something. So, she knelt down, I didn’t see her, and I was like…” he continued, reenacting the incident. “This hand is already gone, so I threw the bottle and then I just landed on broken glass. Oh, yeah! Pools of blood everywhere. It turns out it wasn’t that bad. But anyways, I took more pictures with my hand in my pocket. Then I went inside and I looked at it…The EMT said, ‘You should probably go to the hospital, see if there’s any glass in it.’ So, I went to the hospital – I’m so used to going to the hospital now – that I’m like, ‘This is kind of fun.’ I went in and everything’s all right and all great. So, a couple Band-Aids. I want to let everyone know I’m fine.”
