John Krasinski Felt ‘Pretty Stupid’ Sitting With Leonardo DiCaprio At The Golden Globes

Sometimes
going solo has its perks, but for John Krasinski it was a mixed blessing at the Golden Globes.

The “Office” alum hit the awards fete on Jan. 10 without his
wife, Emily Blunt, but found himself in impressive company anyway.

“It turns out when you go stag, they put you at a great
table,” John said during an appearance on Friday’s
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” revealing he was seated with Leonardo
DiCaprio during the ceremony.

However, John added, he and Leo didn’t exactly hit it off.

“That sounds really cool, except I didn’t get a chance
to meet him,” the actor confessed, explaining that he was too intimidated
to introduce himself to the “Revenant” star.

“I didn’t want to be like, ‘Hey man, I’m the guy who doesn’t have anybody!'” he laughed.

The situation was already awkward for the “13 Hours: The
Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” star, but got even more uncomfortable after
Leo’s film started raking in the accolades.

“I’m
in the middle of hugs and people are like, ‘This is the best year ever!’ and I
was like, ‘Wasn’t it?'” John told Ellen of the “Revenant” team’s
celebration. “And then everybody went up and gave their speech and I felt
really pretty stupid.”

The
actor said he was able to stay mostly under the radar throughout the evening, until
filmmaker Alejandro Iñárritu got up to receive his Best Director honors.

“When he won he said ‘hi’ to everyone and ‘thank you’ because they all worked on the movie, and then turned to me and there was that moment of like, ‘Why are you here?'” John recalled. “And I was like, ‘Congratulations!'”

Despite
being the odd man out next to Leo’s crew, John teased that Emily’s absence may
not have been a factor.

“I
don’t invite her to anything anymore,” he joked to Ellen of his British
love, who was away filming a movie on Globes night.
