Jon Gosselin On Marriage To Kate: ‘I’m Never Going Back To That Life Style’

Jon Gosselin has claimed Kate Gosselin “abused” him during their decade-long marriage.

In a new interview with ABC News’ Chris Cuomo, the 32-year-old patriarch of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8” said the way Kate spoke to him put their marriage on a collision course.

“Our relationship will never be fixed,” he told Cuomo in a new interview airing on Tuesday. “I don’t trust her anymore. I was abused… I was beaten down… I’m not going back to that life style.”

Furthermore, Jon said things have gotten so bad, they have to shoot the scenes for their show separately.

“I can’t sit on the sofa with that woman. I can’t sit [with] someone right now that I despise,” he added. “I despise [her] because she’s not speaking from the heart. Please, the stuff you tell me in private should be the stuff you tell me on TV.”

Jon – who also claims he no longer has his wedding ring because Kate “took my ring” — said the turning point for him came when he stood up to his ex, after deciding he needed some buddy time.

“In 10 years, I’ve never gone out… I used to say, ‘OK, I’m not going to go out.’ I was very passive. This is the first time I said, ‘You know what? I want to see my friends. I’m going out,’” he said. “That was the first time in my life I ever stood up to Kate… I just felt like I had to take back some time in my life, and I did it. And I felt really good. I made my own decision… I was beaten down for so long, I couldn’t even make my own decision. And when I did, I was like, holy cow! You know? Yeah, what’s she gonna do? Divorce me? All right. Obviously.”

While Jon has been criticized in the tabloids for finally exiting the couple’s relationship, he told Cuomo he previously attempted to make it work by going to counseling on his own.

“I went to therapy. I learned about myself. If she’s not going to therapy, she’s not going to fix herself, then it’s not going to work. It takes two people,” he said. “I have a $22,000 therapy bill. I mean, I tried to have marriage counseling. I did it myself. She refused to go.”

And leaving the relationship that spanned 10 years and produced eight children, left Jon in tears.

“I don’t cry, I cried at my dad’s funeral. That’s it,” he said, “But like, I’ve cried more now in the last, like, eight months than… my whole entire life.”

Nowadays, Jon said he is receiving compliments from his family members, who have noticed a change in his personality.

“My mom and my brothers, they say to me, ‘It’s so good to have the real Jon back. It’s so good to have the warm, loving, kind, caring person that we knew you when you were… before you got married,’” he said. “I’ve changed for her. Because I loved her… But don’t forget who you are. That’s what happened to me.”

Jon said having a big family so quickly took its toll and many of the actions he chose to do over the years were the result of parenthood autopilot.

“I got married at 22. I had twins at 23. I had sextuplets at 27. Bye-bye, twenties,” the 32-year-old said. “And then raising all those kids until you’re 30 and, you know, you don’t even think about what’s going on around you. You just do what you got to do to survive.”

In the months since his split from Kate, Jon has been spotted in France with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier, and with his new ladylove, Hailey Glassman, at his side.
He also was photographed in the Hamptons with Michael Lohan.

Some of the outings he made, however, have come with regrets, but he told Cuomo, he has learned from it.

“I just want to let the world know that I’m a real person with feelings,” he said. “OK, I’ve made mistakes. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea to go out to the clubs. But we all learn from mistakes, except mine are public.”

In a statement to Access Hollywood, Kate responded to Jon’s latest comments.

“While I certainly have a very different perception of how our marriage dissolved, for the sake of my children I maintain that I’m not going to go into details of aspects I believe should remain private,” the statement noted.
