Julie Andrews: Lady Gaga’s Tribute Was ‘Wonderful’ (Exclusive)

Lady Gaga brought the house down at the Oscars on Sunday, and screen legend Julie Andrews couldn’t have been more thrilled with the performance.

“I was deeply honored by the Academy’s lovely tribute to ‘The Sound of Music,’ and especially touched by Lady Gaga’s wonderful performance,” the Oscar winner said in an exclusive statement to Access Hollywood.

Gaga’s performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of “The Sound of Music”, which included a medley of “The Sound of Music,” “Do Re Mi,” “Edelweiss” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” helped form a friendship between the singer and screen legend.

“I have always been a fan, but last night we bonded and now I have a new friend,” Andrews said of Gaga.

Following Gaga’s performance, which had the crowd at the Dolby Theatre giving her a rousing standing ovation, Andrews took the Oscars stage, which caused even more of a commotion with the crowd.
