Justin Timberlake Hits Cover Of November Golf Digest

The November issue of Golf Digest features Grammy Award-winning musician Justin Timberlake on the cover, and Access Hollywood has your first look!

Timed to coincide with the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas (a PGA Tour event) October 13-19, which Timberlake will host for the first time this year, the cover story details Timberlake’s love for the game and how it connects him to family and friends.

“For me, golf is one of those things where you go out and forget about everything else,” Timberlake tells the magazine. “I never really took up the game until about six or seven years ago. I remember I hit one amazing shot off the tee, straight down the middle. I got to thinking maybe I could play this game.”

In the story, Timberlake also reveals details about the public golf course in Memphis, Mirimichi Lakes, which he and his parents are renovating. The course is being rebuilt to encourage beginners and families to take up the game and is scheduled to reopen in July 2009.

The professional golfers who have committed to play in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open include Hunter Mahan, Mike Weir, Jesper Parnevik, Zach Johnson, Rory Sabbatini and David Duval.

The Golf Digest issue, on newsstands October 7, also ranks the best golfers in studio and on stage in the magazine’s second “Top 100 In Music” list.

“I’m self-taught. I’d watch Tiger and Ernie Els on TV and try to learn from what they did, but obviously I related music to it,” Timberlake said. “The golf swing is very, very rhythmic. There’s a certain tempo to it, just in like in music.”
