Kara DioGuardi Reveals Childhood Molestation, Date Rape In Memoir ‘A Helluva High Note’

Kara DioGuardi is opening up about her painful past in her upcoming memoir, “A Helluva High Note.”

In excerpts posted by E! Online’s Marc Malkin, DioGuardi reveals that she was repeatedly molested when she was 11 by a family friend’s son, who was in his teens.

“On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina,” she writes. “I remember freezing and not knowing what to do.”

The music producer/songwriter and star of the upcoming Bravo series, “Platinum Hit,” also writes about an alleged date rape in 2000 by a “fairly known producer.”

”[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand,” she writes.

DioGuardi writes that she told the man to stop, but did not fight back out of a fear that he would become violent with her. She remained silent about the incident because she was afraid it would affect her career.

She also opens up about an alleged sexual harassment incident a few years later by a “hugely successful artist.”

“The trip’s activities consisted of watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers…as they performed sex acts in the living room,” DioGuardi writes.

The former “American Idol” judge also gets candid about her trouble getting pregnant while on her last season of the hit FOX reality series.

“I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of 18-hour work days and live TV,” she writes, adding, “I had undergone three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during Season 9… Leaving was painful and there will always be a part of me that wanted to stay, but my desire to be in control of my destiny was larger than my need to be a household name.”

“A Helluva High Note” will be released on April 26 and “Platinum Hit” premieres on Bravo on May 30.
