The Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress is the spotlight once again!
Kate Middleton’s now iconic wedding gown by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen is going on display at Buckingham Palace’s annual summer tours for the public.
Starting Saturday, fans of the Royal Family will be able to get up close and personal with the ivory and white satin-gazar dress along with the Cartier “Halo” tiara that the Queen lent Kate, her earrings, and shoes that she wowed the world with during her April 29 wedding to Prince William.
“Visitors will see what a great example of British couture it is,” exhibition curator Caroline de Guitaut said in a statement to People about the wedding dress. “And how much detail and how much work went into the creation of this dress. The beauty really is in the detail.”
In addition to her attire, an artificial version of Kate’s bouquet made with silk flowers and the couple’s original wedding cake – with the exception of the top three layers, which were saved or eaten on the wedding day – will also be on display.
According to the mag, Kate was very involved in the decision to put the dress on display, where visitors will be able to get just feet away from the gown. It will be housed on a special platform in the Palace’s Ballroom.
The tour, which runs until October 3 and costs $28.50, also includes a look into 19 state rooms in Buckingham Palace, a Royal Faberge exhibit and a tour of the south side of the garden.
The Palace said they’ve had a 107 percent increase in ticket sales for the tour compared to last year.
Today, Kate and the Queen are expected to tour the exhibit.
