Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins has been paired with Mark Ballas for “Dancing with the Stars” for just a few days now, but the rumor mill is already buzzing in the UK, where the two rehearse, that they are dating.
“Yeah, we’d like to make an announcement,” Katherine joked with Access Hollywood’s Tim Vincent, brushing off the rumors linking her romantically to her partner.
“I get really overwhelmed in those situations and, you know, we’re coming downstairs so we’re just walking together…” Mark chimed in, explaining what the pair were doing during one of the times the paparazzi snapped them together thus far.
“We couldn’t see there were so many lights flashing,” Katharine added, explaining why the two looked close. “And it was a comfort thing, like, ‘Are you OK?’”
“We had just met that day,” Mark said.
“The same day, in the morning, and by the night we were married,” she said.
While the British press is still attempting to link the pair together, Katherine and Mark want to focus on their first routine – a fox trot.
“We’re just going to laugh it off really,” she told Tim.
“That stuff goes over my head… My priority and the goal is to turn Katherine into the best dancer possible. I’ll make sure she enjoys this process from start to finish,” Mark added. “I’m not really into the gossip and all that. For us it’s just here to work get it done and have a great time.”
Katherine, who has performed – vocally – on “Dancing with the Stars,” said she has been enjoying the process of getting ready.
“It’s going really well, I’m absolutely loving it,” she said. “I’m just having the best time.”
“Dancing with the Stars” premieres March 19 at 8/7c on ABC.
