Kelly Clarkson, Jewel & Lionel Richie Among New ‘Voice’ Guest Mentors

NBC’s “The Voice” is about to get some new star power.

Kelly Clarkson, Jewel, Lionel Richie, Alanis Morissette, Robin Thicke, Miranda Lambert, Babyface and Ne-Yo will all be joining the reality singing competition, NBC announced at their TCA panel on Friday in Pasadena.

Each of the show’s four celebrity coaches — Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton – will enlist the help of two of the aforementioned new names to help during the “battle round” phase of the competition for Season 2.

“These renowned musicians will bring their unique and recognizable musical styles to the teams,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Late Night and Alternative Programming, NBC. “They are well-respected singers whose invaluable experience will be a tremendous asset to Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton’s artists.”

The pairings will be as follows:

Team Adam: Alanis Morissette & Robin Thicke

Team Blake: Kelly Clarkson & Miranda Lambert (who is also Blake’s wife)

Team Cee Lo: Babyface & Ne-Yo

Team Christina: Jewel & Lionel Richie

The battle rounds will pit two contestants from each team against each other to sing a duet. At the end of each battle round performance, the contestants’ respective coach will decide who among their team will move on to the live shows, and who will be eliminated from the competition.

Season 2 of “The Voice” premieres following the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5. It will then move to its regular timeslot (Mondays 8 PM) beginning Monday, February 6.
