La Toya Jackson Recounts The Day Michael Jackson Died

This coming Saturday marks the second anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson. But today, in a new interview, Michael’s sister, La Toya Jackson is revealing the ups and downs of her life in her new book, “Starting Over,” and she spoke with Access Hollywood about the book and the day Michael died.

“That was the saddest day of my life. And it’s a day that I will of course – you never forget it,” La Toya told Access.

“My father called me and he told me to get over to Michael’s house because Michael wasn’t feeling well,” La Toya continued. “I said, ‘OK, what’s wrong?’ He says, ‘No, you need to get over there’ and then he called back and he says, ‘Don’t go over there. You have to go to hospital now’.’”

La Toya explained the moment was full of chaos.

“As I was a going there, I was calling my mother’s assistant and I go, ‘Trent, is he there? What’s happening? How is he? How is he? How is he?’” La Toya recounted. “I heard my mother in the background say, ‘Who was that?’ And he said, ‘It’s La Toya’ and she said, ‘Give me the phone.’ She grabbed the phone and she screamed as loud as she could, ‘He’s dead!’ And when she said that, I lost it!”

La Toya relived her painful memories of the day in her new book where, even though the cause of Michael’s death was an overdose of the powerful drug Propofol, she claims he was not a drug addict.

“One day he accidentally took an aspirin and he didn’t know and my mother said it was a vitamin or something of that nature and then when he found out it was an aspirin, we have to rush him to the hospital, he was hyperventilating, he thought he was dying, because it was aspirin,” La Toya said. “That’s the kind of person he was, but then, of course, the tragedy happened with the [Pepsi commercial] fire and the burning and the whole bit. I don’t know if it stemmed from there or no. But no, he was not a drug addict, but he did have a problem with his sleeping pattern.

“When Michael passed, in all fairness, I must tell you that Michael had no drugs in his body,” La Toya continued. “He was very clean. The only drugs they found in his body [were] the drugs that they put in his body that night.”

La Toya also claims in her book that Michael predicted his own death.

“Michael told me repeatedly, over and over, that, ‘They were going to kill me, they were after me,’” she claimed. “And in the beginning, I didn’t believe it. I said, ‘Michael, come on, you’re Michael Jackson. Why would they do something like that?’ [He said,] ‘Because you don’t understand.’ And then he went into detail and he told me the reason why, that what they were after, they were after [his] catalog and they were after [his] publishing… He owned over 700,000 songs which is a lot of songs, a lot of publishing, a lot of money.”
