On Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live, Mariska Hargitay (who plays Sgt. Olivia Benson on “Law & Order: SVU”) said she stays in touch with former co-star Chris Meloni (the former Det. Elliot Stabler) and that she’s been “trying” to get her ex-partner back on the show.
The actress joked that Stabler could come back as her “baby daddy” for her foster baby Noah this season, and on Tuesday night, the actor responded via Twitter and Facebook.
(“SVU” fans, you may want to be near your fainting couches for this news.)

“Baby daddy for Benson? Why not, I’ve done it enough times for Hargitay,” Chris Tweeted, along with a link to our Mariska story.

The actor also posted his hilarious response on Facebook, prompting nearly 500 comments from enthusiastic fans hoping for a Benson/Stabler romance.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, when asked if Mariska maintains contact with Chris, the actress replied, “I do!”
“We all love Meloni – who doesn’t love Meloni? He is hysterical,” she told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. “And I have to say, everyone talks about [our] chemistry and where that comes from. He is one of the funniest guys, and that’s probably one of the first things that we bonded over. He’s hilarious and we have a very similar sense of humor and appreciate the same things. I miss him and enjoy him and keep in touch with him.”
When asked if we may see Stabler returning to the squadroom in the future, Mariska said, “I’ve been trying! Maybe he could be Noah’s baby daddy! Let me call the writers.”
“Law & Order: SVU” returns with its Season 16 premiere on Wednesday at 9 PM on NBC.
