Lindsay Lohan Enters Not Guilty Plea Over Felony Grand Theft; Judge Issues Stern Warning – Violate The Law Again & Go To Jail

Lindsay Lohan pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft at the Los Angeles International Airport Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon.

The actress’ attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, entered her plea of not guilty on the star’s behalf.

The prosecutor in the case asked for $20,000 bail, and asked for her current probation (in connection with her 2007 DUI misdemeanor case) to be revoked and set bail for that incident, also in the amount of $20,000, which Judge Keith L. Schwartz approved.

Following the hearing, Lohan posted bail and left the courthouse without being captured on camera.

While Holley defended her client, saying, “She’s had only clean [drugs] tests and has been a good probationer,” the judge gave Lohan a sharp warning – if she violates any law while she is out on bail, she will go to jail.

“Let me just tell you a couple things so we have no misunderstandings… You’re in a different situation now that a felony’s been filed against you,” Judge Schwartz said. “You now have a pending felony case, so in the interim while this case is percolating… if you violate the law, I will remand you and set no bail and your attorney won’t be successful this time.

“Everyone in this room has to follow the law… you’re no different than anyone else, so please don’t push your luck, because I’m telling you… things will be different,” he added.

On Wednesday morning, the LA District Attorney’s Office filed charges against 24-year-old for allegedly stealing a necklace worth $2,500 from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store.

If convicted, Lohan could face up to three years in state prison.

She will return to court for another hearing on this matter on February 23.

Lohan turned up to the courtroom of Judge Schwartz about 20 minutes before her scheduled 1:30 PM appearance.

Lohan wore a tight fitting white, long-sleeved dress and black high heels at the appearance. Her hair — which she reportedly had done on Tuesday night — appeared blonde, and was pulled back into a ponytail. She wore shades and was flanked by a bodyguard as she entered the courthouse.

Dozens of media staked out the entrance to the courthouse and at least three helicopters were seen in the area outside the arraignment.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, according to the DA’s office, which received the case at the end of last week from the Los Angeles Police Department (who had been investigating the incident), Lohan allegedly “walked out of the store with the necklace” on January 22.

“The owner reported the theft to the Los Angeles Police Department, which investigated the allegation and presented evidence to the D.A.’s office last week,” the DA’s office said in a statement.

Over the weekend, Holley issued a statement over the investigation.

“We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press,” Lohan’s attorney said at the time.

Lohan is currently on probation related to a 2007 misdemeanor driving under the influence case. She completed rehab last month and has a probation hearing in Beverly Hills on February 23.
