Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards Talks Her Onstage Tears: ‘It’s Just An Emotional Day’

The newest Little Mix single might be hitting close to home for member Perrie Edwards.

The British star burst into tears during the group’s performance of “The End” in New York on Wednesday, just weeks after she and fellow pop star Zayn Malik called off their engagement.

Perrie broke down mid-solo, while singing the emotional words “And I won’t be missing, missing you / And no one can love you, the way I used to do.”

The song’s candid breakup lyrics could have been a trigger, but Perrie and her fellow Little Mix members told Access Hollywood that their non-stop schedule would have anyone on edge.

“It’s just an emotional day! I think we’re so tired,” Perrie told Access after the concert.

“We’ve been up since four,” Jesy Nelson explained. “It’s one of them days when girls haven’t had sleep and it’s been a long day, we’re very emotional.”

The livestream event, presented by NBCUniversal and AOL, was a celebration of the pop stars’ four-year anniversary together. The women showcased a united front while comforting Perrie, and the audience offered its own support too.

“We love you, Perrie!” concertgoers shouted, as the 22-year-old embraced her Little Mix family and composed herself.

Little Mix’s next album, “Get Weird,” is set to drop in November.
