Maria Shriver Appears At Oprah’s Farewell Spectacular; Thanks TV Icon For ‘The Truth’

Maria Shriver appeared at “The Oprah Winfrey Show’s” “Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular” in Chicago on Tuesday night, her first public appearance since Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to fathering a child with a former staffer.

“You have given me love, support, wisdom and, most of all, the truth,” Shriver told the talk show host on stage in front of a packed house at the United Center. “And I know I’m not alone in receiving those gifts from you.”

On Monday, Shriver was spotted dining with Oprah, partner Stedman Graham and best friend Gayle King at Chicago’s RL Restaurant, People reported.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the identity of the alleged mother that Schwarzenegger fathered the child with was revealed to be Mildred Baena, 50. She reportedly worked at the Schwarzenegger-Shriver home as a housekeeper and an assistant for more than 20 years, according to Radar Online and ABC News.

On Tuesday morning following Schwarzenegger’s admission, Shriver released a statement.

“This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment,” Shriver said in a statement.
