Mary J., U2, Ludacris, Eminem, Timberlake Get Grammy Nods

Christina Aguilera, Ludacris, James Blunt, Mary J. Blige, Justin Timberlake and British neo-soul chanteuse Corinne Bailey Ray were among the artists receiving Grammy nominations earlier today in Los Angeles.

At LA?s Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre, the nominees were announced for the 49th annual awards show, which airs on February 11, 2007 on CBS by a star studded panel of rapper Ludacris, country-pop crooners Rascal Flats, Scottish songstress KT Tunstall, 17-year old wunderkind Chris Brown, Evanescence singer Amy Lee, Timberlake, Blige, Blunt and Bailey Rae.

Mary J. Blige led the way in nominations receiving eight in total for awards including Best R&B Album (for 2005s The Breakthrough) and the prestigious Song Of The Year (for ?Be Without You). Rockers the Red Hot Chili peppers ran a close second with six nods total including Album Of The Year (for Stadium Arcadium) and Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group (for ?Dani California?)

Newcomer, Bailey Rae was the break out star of those announced live, appearing notably shocked each time her name was called. She received nods for Best New Artist and the coveted Record of the Year for her single ?Put Your Records On.?

Fellow Brit Blunt, also blushed as he also was nominated for Record of the Year for his hit ?You?re Beautiful,? which also received a nod for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. His full-length album, Back To Bedlam also took a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. Blunt took a total of five nods.

The Dixie Chicks were honored with five themselves including a nod for the coveted Album of the Year trophy for their controversial effort Taking the Long Way. The Chicks’ hit single “Not Ready To Make Nice” netted two more super-Grammy nominations — Song of The Year and Record of the Year. John Mayer, Danger Mouse (whose total includes those with his group Gnarls Barkley), Prince, producer Rick Rubin, will.i.am and composer John Williams also received five nominations a piece.

Those with just four nods? Beyoncé, Bryan-Michael Cox, Gnarls Barkley (as a group), Israel Houghton, T.I. and Justin Timberlake.

Eminem turned up twice, despite not releasing an album of his own. Both of the duets he took part in ? with Akon on ?Smack That? and with Nate Dogg on ?Shake That? received Best Rap Sung Collaboration nominations.
