Matt Damon Talks ‘SNL’ Cameo & The Movie That Always Makes Him Cry

Matt Damon made a cameo as a handsome homeless guy on “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend and he revealed it was his more-than-admiration for cast member Andy Samberg that lead to the hookup.

“Andy — I’ve been stalking Andy — for years,” Matt told Access Hollywood over the weekend as he promoted his new film, “We Bought a Zoo,” in New York City.

Matt explained he was asked to do the “SNL” short after he made it clear to Andy he was available whenever for whatever.

“I love his stuff, so I said, ‘Look, I live in New York. If you ever have anything,’” Matt explained. “So he called me [last week] and said, ‘I have this idea.’ I was like, ‘Great.’ ‘Val Kilmer’s in it, too.’ ‘Terrific.’ We had a ball. We laughed a lot.”

“SNL” host Katy Perry was also in the skit about best friends and the actor enjoyed working with the pop star.

“[She’s] funny and really cool. It was the first time I met her and she was great,” he said.

The Cameron Crowe-directed film, “We Bought A Zoo,” opens on December 23 and Matt admitted the movie, which also stars Scarlett Johansson, will tug at audience’s emotions.

“It is a tearjerker, but it’s a life affirming one — the way ‘Jerry McGuire’ always gets me all misty when I watch it,” he said. “Men don’t admit it, but ‘Jerry McGuire’– that one always gets to me, I think, in large part, because I don’t feel like it’s trying too hard.”
