Matthew Broderick is packing up and heading for the “Beach” with NBC.
The actor will star in a new NBC comedy pilot, “Beach Lane,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show stars Broderick as a celebrity author who has been hired by an irresponsible millionaire heir to turn around his struggling small town newspaper in the Hamptons.
“Beach Lane” will be executive produced by “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels.
Broderick’s last TV appearance came as a guest star on “30 Rock” in 2008 – another Michaels exec produced series.
Broderick is best-known for playing the iconic role of Ferris Bueller in John Hughes’ “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (1986) and for originating the role of Leo Bloom on Broadway in “The Producers.” He is married to actress Sarah Jessica Parker.
His voice last appeared on the big screen in 2008’s “The Tale of Despereaux.” He’ll next appear on the big screen alongside Anna Paquin in 2010’s Kenneth Longergan-directed “Margaret.”
