Mayim Bialik Explains Why She Blogged About Her Divorce

Mayim Bialik penned a series of blogs earlier this summer about her divorce and on Monday’s Access Hollywood Live, she explained why.

“I wanted to write about some of the more complicated aspects. And specifically, also, there’s certain things [related] to Jewish divorce that people don’t know about,” Mayim told Access Hollywood Live’s Kit Hoover and guest co-host Alfonso Ribeiro, about her blogs for Kveller.com.

Mayim filed to divorce husband Michael Stone last November, in a California court, but the pair also had to get divorced through their faith.

“There’s something called a ‘Get,’” she said. “There’s a religious process. You sit in the same room and you watch your divorce deed be written. It’s actually a very interesting thousands year old document that you watch written and you have to be in the same room as your ex.”

Mayim said the experience was helpful.

“To me, it was a very cathartic, very emotionally powerful sense of closure for us,” she said. “It’s very intense. So I wrote for Kveller about some of those aspects in hopes to kind of maybe [be] helpful to other people or other women.”

Emmy nominated Mayim returns to the set of “Big Bang Theory” this week, but she has been spending her summer – in addition to blogging – promoting STEM, from Texas Instruments, where she is a paid spokesperson.

The website, StemHollywood.com, aims to get kids “fired up,” she said, about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
