Mayim Bialik Preps For Emmys Despite ‘Gnarly’ Hand Injury

Mayim Bialik is on the mend and getting ready for the upcoming Emmy Awards despite a car accident that left her hand severely injured.

Access Hollywood caught up with the actress at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Performers Peer Group Reception in Universal City, Calif., on Monday, where she spoke about her recent accident.

”[It] took a lot of people to get me here but we did it,” the 36-year-old “Big Bang Theory” star said of her first red carpet appearance since last week’s accident.

“It’s pretty gnarly,” she said of her hand injury. ‘[It caused] significant trauma to my right hand, but I’m OK. I’m in pain, but I’m OK.”

Mayim walked away from her accident, but said there will be a reminder of the ordeal.

“There’s a significant scar that’ll be running through my whole hand,” she told Access.

The actress, who is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in Comedy Series category for her role as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on the CBS comedy, said she’s looking forward to her big night and may have just the right dress to pair with her injury.

“I think we have a dress. We’re 99% sure,” she added. “I’m a modest dresser, so we found something long sleeve.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, a vehicle carrying three male tourists from out of the country was turning near La Brea and Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, when they struck the car Mayim was in last week, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Access Hollywood.
