Michael Douglas On Son Cameron Douglas’ Troubles

Michael Douglas has opened up about his son, Cameron Douglas, who is facing a minimum of a decade in prison, the result of drug trafficking charges.

In the latest issue of Vanity Fair, the “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” star said that what’s going on with Cameron is very tough.

“Anybody who has a relative or child in substance abuse has some idea of what this feels like. This is one of those worst-case scenarios,” he said. “It will ultimately be a painful lesson and very expensive as far as time is concerned. I don’t wish it on anybody, but then, you know, look, everybody’s got difficult things in life.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Cameron was denied bail and a chance for outpatient addiction treatment late last month. He is currently awaiting sentencing in a federal drug-dealing case.

Cameron pleaded guilty earlier this year to selling large amounts of meth and cocaine. His sentencing has been set for April 14.

And Michael told the mag his role in parenting Cameron during the 31-year-ol’ds younger years wasn’t that different to how he was raised.

“My priorities were very similar [to my father’s],” Michael said, referring to his father, Kirk. “Career first.”
