Michelle Obama Selects Isabel Toledo Ensemble For Inauguration

After months of speculation, Michelle Obama has revealed the designer she will wear to her husband’s inauguration, Access Hollywood has learned.

Michelle has selected Cuban-born award winning American fashion designer Isabel Toledo.

“In continuing with her tradition of selecting American designers for her clothing choices, Mrs. Obama is wearing an Isabel Toledo ensemble to her husband’s Swearing-In Ceremony and today’s Inaugural Parade,” a spokesperson for the soon-to-be First Lady said in a statement released to Access on Tuesday.

This is not the first time Michelle Obama has worn the designer. She first wore Toledo last June to a Calvin Klein fund-raiser in Manhattan – a choice the designer was thrilled with.

“I was so honored to hear that she’s a fan,” Toledo told the New York Daily News in October. “Think of it, this girl from West New York, N.J., is designing a dress worn by the possible next First Lady.”

Toledo couldn’t help but think about where her designs were going to end up.

“I’m in the White House! Well, I’m in the closet of the White House,” she joked.

The Cuban-American designer was also flattered that Michelle supported an American designer.

“She could’ve worn anybody,” she said. “But she chose to wear a dress made by a Latina, and made in the U.S. So, she chose to support the industry here… Michelle really wanted to be sophisticated, and she did it.”

Toledo, who has designed for more than 20 years under her own name, also served as creative director for the Anne Klein company.

She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Parsons School of Design in New York.
