Nicole Kidman Admits Breakup With Tom Cruise Left Her ‘Really Damaged’

Nicole Kidman says breaking up with Tom Cruise under the scrutiny of the public eye caused her a lot of personal trauma.

“I was really damaged and not sure whether that was ever going to happen again to me,” Nicole told the March issue of Marie Claire UK.

Changing the topic to talk about finding love again, Nicole continued to the mag, “I certainly never thought I’d have a baby at 41. But we never know what’s around the corner.”

While the breakup with Tom was tough, the “Rabbit Hole” actress said her marriage to the “Mission Impossible” franchise star, which spanned more than a decade (from 1990-2001), was good.

“That was a great relationship. It was great,’” Nicole said. “I think it ran its course.”

The actress said becoming a superstar celebrity after she married Tom, wasn’t something she wanted, but rather, something that she accepted.

“I was never seeking to be a celebrity. But I was prepared to do that for love. And that is something that is hard to do,” she said. “It’s hard when you’re young. But I’m ready to give up anything for love, because ultimately, that is what you have.”

These days, happily married to Aussie country music hunk Keith Urban, with whom she has two daughters – Sunday Rose and newborn Faith Margaret — Nicole said she’s in a wonderful place.

“I’m crazy in love,” she said.

A Nashville, Tenn., transplant, Nicole credited her romance with Keith for being able to live on a farm and out of the spotlight.

“I think you can live anywhere and do anything when you’re crazy in love,” she said. “I wouldn’t have been able to do this in my Twenties.”
