NYC ‘Housewives’ Talk Camille Grammer & Their Own TV Portrayals

Camille Grammer recently told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson that she felt “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” didn’t give viewers “an accurate portrayal” of herself, and apparently she’s not the only one carrying around that sentiment.

At NBC Universal’s party following Thursday’s Television Critics Association Winter 2011 Session in Pasadena, Calif., the New York “Housewives” chimed in with their own stories.

“Well, my first episode… Simon [van Kempen] and Alex [McCord] came in for a dinner party and I was really upset [because it was girls’ night]… and I really was pretty abrasive with him,” Ramona singer recounted of an episode where she was seen bringing the drama. “What they did not show [was] five minutes later I go, ‘Hi! My name is Ramona, and here is a cocktail for you.’”

“The thing is, we can control what we say, but we can’t control how things get put together,” Alex chimed in. “If they cut out everything but two seconds of what really happened, people can get the wrong idea and I learned that the hard way [in] my first season. But the best thing in my experience is to just keep doing it because eventually the truth comes out.”

Ramona admitted that she knows how her behavior comes across on camera, and she makes sure to warn her family members in advance of an episode airing.

“I tell my husband and my daughter, ‘Listen, you know, I did this, and this, and this. You may be embarrassed. I’m sorry, I’m just being me and just… don’t take it seriously. You know who I am,’” she laughed.

Jill Zarin said she hopes that Camille makes the decision to return to the franchise – something that is still up in the air.

“We’re supportive of any ‘Housewife’ who puts themselves out there for the public ridicule… scrutiny,” she said. “We really support because we know we’ve been in her shoes. To a certain level, all ‘Housewives’ have had good and bad experiences and unfortunately, she’s experienced the darker side of being on a reality show. Hopefully [if] she comes back [for] another season she’ll experience the fun part.”

“The Real Housewives of New York City” returns to Bravo for a new season on February 15 at 10 PM.
