One Direction fans can rest easy – despite photos of band member Niall Horan hobbling through London’s Heathrow airport on crutches, the singer is on the mend following a “major” knee surgery.
“Hey guys I know most of you have seen those pics today!” the 20-year-old boy bander wrote on Twitter on Friday. “Yes I’ve had major knee surgery, a much larger surgery than first anticipated.”
Niall’s surgery might have been serious, but needed and successful.

“I would like to tell u, it was a complete success ! Considering the scale of it!” he continued.
And now Niall, would like to have a little R&R (and some alone time) before he heads out on tour with the rest of the 1D guys in April.
“So all I ask of you guys is that you would respect my privacy as I try to recover and get [ready] for the where we are tour!” the singer said in another Tweet.
