Prospect Park Cancels Plans To Put ‘One Live To Live,’ ‘All My Children’ Online

After more than four decades on the air, “One Life To Live” and “All My Children” will not be continuing their runs online, Prospect Park, the Internet company which had picked up the two series for the web, announced on Wednesday.

“After five months of negotiations with various guilds, hundreds of presentations to potential financial and technology partners, and a hope that we could pioneer a new network for the future, it is with great disappointment that we are suspending our aspirations to revive ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘All My Children’ via online distribution,” read a statement from Prospect Park, released to Access Hollywood on Wednesday. “It is now becoming clear that mounting issues make our ability to meet our deadlines to get OLTL on the air in a reasonable time period following its January 13, 2012 ABC finale impossible.

“We believed the timing was right to launch an Online TV Network anchored by these two iconic soap operas, but we always knew it would be an uphill battle to create something historical, and unfortunately we couldn’t ultimately secure the backing and clear all the hurdles in time. We believe we exhausted all reasonable options apparent to us, but despite enormous personal, as well as financial cost to ourselves, we failed to find a solution,” the statement continued.

“All My Children” ended its run on television after more than 40 years this fall and Prospect Park was expecting to put that show online after getting “OLTL” on the web first.

The internet company had signed many of “OLTL’s” heavy hitters for the planned online version, including the grand dame of the series, Erika Slezak (Viki) and Kassie DePaiva (Blair).

“OLTL” taped its last episode just last week.

“This has been a sad day. I’m truly grateful 4 this awesome journey. I’ve had an amazing time in Llanview….& really hate 2 see it end,” Kassie Tweeted on November 18. “But it was great and my life is better because of the lives that have touched mine. Thank you OLTL/Blair fans for 18 years of goodness.”

“OLTL” ends its run on ABC in January.
