Reign: Get To Know Celina Sinden & Her Character Greer

It’s not just Adelaide Kane’s Mary, Queen of Scots, who is looking for love and marriage at French court on The CW’s “Reign.” On Thursday night’s episode, Celina Sinden’s Greer is hoping to catch the eye of a handsome foreign nobleman who comes to town.

“She’s ambitious and she’s actually the only one of the ladies who isn’t titled, so she’s got lots of money, but she needs to rise in the world through finding a husband, which is her mission at court, other than looking after Mary, which is obviously another huge job for her,” Celina told reporters after The CW flew AccessHollywood.com up to the “Reign” set in Toronto, where they made us their guests recently.

Celina hinted that Greer will have “different options” in her search for the perfect husband, and her character hinted at one of those possibilities in this exclusive clip, below, from Thursday’s new episode.

Playing the untitled Greer on “Reign” is actually Celina’s very first professional acting gig, something she spoke about when Access asked about it during the set visit.

“This is my first job, period. … I’m waiting to pay my dues when I go back to England, maybe,” she smiled. “I’ve been incredibly lucky. I auditioned for ‘Reign’ halfway through my year at Guildhall and for some reason they liked me, and now I’m here and it’s all been a bit of a whirlwind, but it’s been a great whirlwind.”

And stepping back in time to the late 1500s has helped make it more comfortable for the actress as well.

“We did a lot of Shakespeare [at drama school], obviously, and [learned] about the history of [England’s] kings and queens, so it actually felt quite comfortable walking into a period drama,” she added. “I think if I’d done something set in the future on a spaceship then I would’ve felt more out of my depth. This felt familiar to me, like I kind of… knew what I’m doing.”

Also making Celina feel comfortable — her castmates who have been helping her learn film and TV lingo.

“People have been really, really great,” she said. “When I first came on set for the pilot, I was quite honest with everyone. I said, ‘This is my first job, I don’t know all the lingo yet,’ and everyone was just fantastic. They’d always be whispering [to] me like, ‘That means that,’… and I’d be like, ‘Thanks so much!’ There’s only so much you can blag. It’s been really good.”

“Reign” airs Thursday night at 9/8c on The CW.
