Report Claims ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Filming Halted Due To Injury Of Star Rooney Mara; Studio & Rep Say ‘Not True’

Reports surfaced on Wednesday that rising star Rooney Mara was “severely injured” on the set of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” but a rep for Sony tells Access Hollywood the rumors are “not true.”

Additionally, Rooney’s personal publicist also says “The story is not true. Production has not shut down. She is fine.”

According to Sweden’s Nojes Bladet, the actress allegedly suffered a debilitating shoulder injury while filming, and the publication claimed filming in Sweden had been indefinitely postponed.

Rooney, who is up next in theaters in “The Social Network,” alongside Justin Timberlake, nabbed the highly coveted role of edgy hacker Lisbeth Salander in the American big screen adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s literary set, “The Millenium Trilogy.” Rooney beat out a field of contenders that, at one time, included Natalie Portman, Ellen Page and recent Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan.

The American adaptation of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is slated to hit theaters on December 21, 2011.

The third installment of the original Swedish film trilogy, “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest,” will be released stateside on October 15. The original film version of “Dragon Tattoo” is available now on DVD, and “The Girl Who Played with Fire” is currently playing still in some U.S. theaters.
