Rick Springfield Arrested For Suspicion Of DUI

Rick Springfield – the ‘80s rocker best known for his hit single, “Jessie’s Girl” – was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Sunday night, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

Springfield was pulled over in Malibu, Calif., around 8 PM local time on Sunday, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told Access.

According to information from the LASD’s office, he was pulled over after he “accelerated rapidly” in his 1963 Corvette while driving on Pacific Coast Highway.

When Springfield was stopped, he “exhibited signs of alcoholic beverage intoxication” and a field sobriety test was administered, which “indicated his driving was impaired.”

He was taken to a nearby jail where he was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

While in custody, Springfield’s blood alcohol level was measured at .10, according to the LASD.

Springfield was released at 2:10 AM on Monday on his own recognizance and a promise to appear in court on July 5.

In October 2010, Springfield sat down with Access Hollywood for a candid interview, where the rocker opened up on his past battles with depression and sex addiction.

“I had a huge house, money, a beautiful wife, kids, touring the world – and realizing that that wasn’t doing it,” Rick told Access Hollywood at the time. “And I realized it hadn’t fixed me.”
