Robert
Downey Jr. has joined the cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

According to
the movie’s official Facebook page, the “Avengers” star signed on to
reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Marvel’s first
“Spider-Man” standalone film.

“Homecoming”
star Tom Holland is set to make his debut as the web-slinging teen in May’s
“Captain America: Civil War,” which will introduce the character to
Stark and his metal-suited alter ego.

Back in
December 2015, Holland told Access Hollywood that his preparation for the reboot
would ideally involve more than just physical training — he’d like the chance
to ask his big-screen predecessors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for a bit
of advice.

“It’s something I think should happen,” he said,
explaining that he has questions about more than just portraying the comic book
hero. “I’d love to sort of sit down with them and ask them about what to
expect in life, rather than making the actual making of the movie.”

In addition
to Holland and Downey Jr., other “Homecoming” players include
Zendaya, Tony Revolori and Marisa Tomei, who will take on the role of Peter
Parker’s beloved Aunt May.

“Homecoming’s” title was revealed at
CinemaCon in Las Vegas earlier this month, and will hit theaters on July 7,
2017.
