Robin Thicke Talks Growing Pains Set: Girls Came To See Kirk Cameron, But Left With Me!

Robin Thicke shared his real life father, Alan Thicke, with Kirk Cameron, who played Alan’s on-screen son Mike Seaver on “Growing Pains.”

However, Robin said he didn’t mind sharing his dad with Kirk during those years, as the baby-faced actor unwittingly contributed to the success of Robin’s love life at the time.

“Were you ever mad at Kirk Cameron? Were you like, ‘That’s my dad!’?” Kit Hoover asked Robin on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live.

“No, because luckily, he didn’t hit on any of the girls on the set,” Robin answered with a laugh. “He left them all for me. So, I loved Kirk!

“They came to see him and they left the set with me,” he added with a smile.

After a stint as guest mentor for coach Adam Levine on NBC’s “The Voice,” Robin is now showing off his own musical talents on “Duets” — alongside Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles and John Legend — crooning his sultry ballads with amateur hopefuls Olivia Chisholm and Alexis Foster.

“[Your music] is romantic, it’s sexy, you’ve gotta feel it. Are you that guy? Or do you just do that really well?” Bill Bush asked the “Lost Without You” singer.

“I write about other things, whether it’s politics or inspiration, but most of my songs, they always end up being about the woman I love because I’ve loved her for so long and that relationship is the most important thing in my life,” he said, referencing his wife of nearly seven years, actress Paula Patton, who he began dating as a teenager. “So, even when I try to write about other stuff, I end up writing about her all the time.”

The stunning couple has one child together, 2-year-old Julian Fuego, and Robin said they’re holding off on more children for the moment due to their hectic schedules.

“No [more] kids right now, because we’re both very busy and we wanna get this one right,” he told Billy and Kit, when asked if he and Paula are planning to add to their family in the immediate future. “We’re very lucky – [Julian is] wonderful.”

“Duets” airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
