Robin Williams Enters Rehab

(August 9, 2006) — Access Hollywood has confirmed that legendary actor-comedianRobin Williams is in rehabilitation for alcohol treatment.

A publicist for Williams released the following statement:

“After 20 years of sobriety, Robin Williams found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family. He asks that you respect his and his family’s privacy during this time. He looks forward to returning to work this fall to support his upcoming film releases.”

No further details are available at this time.

The 55-year-old actor’s film credits include “Good Morning, Vietnam,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Dead Poets Society,” “One Hour Photo”and the 2006 comedy “RV.”

Williams won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1998 for his role alongside Matt Damon in “Good Will Hunting.”
