Roseanne Barr Returns To TV In Stand-Up Special

She’s starred in hit TV shows, written best-selling books and sparked controversies, but it’s been a long time since Roseanne Barr performed the stand-up comedy that made her famous. Now, viewers can catch this multi-talented performer in her first stand-up special in ten years when “Roseanne Barr: Blonde And Bitchin’” debuts Saturday, November 4 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

Taped before a live audience at the legendary Comedy Store in Los Angeles, “Roseanne Barr: Blonde And Bitchin’” captures the outspoken comic at her take-no-prisoners best. Among the topics covered are: growing up Jewish in Salt Lake City, working “in a cement box” on her TV series, baby boomers, the diet industry, Pat Robertson, Viagra, religious fanatics and more.

Roseanne Barr made her HBO debut in 1986 on a Rodney Dangerfield special, graduating to her first solo stand-up special, “The Roseanne Barr Show,” in 1987, followed by “Roseanne Barr Live from Trump Castle,” “Roseanne Arnold” and “Roseanne: Naked Hollywood.” Her other HBO credits include “Comic Relief V,” “Comic Relief VIII,” the documentary “Roseanne Behind the Scenes,” and several episodes of “The Larry Sanders Show.”

Barr was the creator, star and executive producer of the smash-hit comedy series “Roseanne,” which launched in 1988 and ran for nine seasons. Hailed by Entertainment Weekly as “the most groundbreaking kitchen-sink sitcom since ‘All In the Family’,” the show garnered four Emmy(r) Awards, including a Best Actress award for Barr, as well as receiving a Peabody Award, two Golden Globe Awards and two Humanitas Awards. She also hosted her own talk show for two seasons and wrote the best-selling memoirs “Roseanne: My Life as a Woman” and “My Lives.”

“Roseanne Barr: Blonde And Bitchin’” was executive produced by Roseanne Barr, James Moore and Rodney A. Omanoff; directed and produced by Michael Drumm; produced by Andrea Allen; written by Roseanne Barr and Johnny Argent.
