Ryan Reynolds has bad news for “Deadpool” fans, but he’s still bringing the laughs.
On Friday, the actor Tweeted a hilarious (and very NSFW!) explanation why his big screen alter ego won’t be taking the “Saturday Night Live” stage anytime soon.
In a profanity-laden video, the actor can be heard ranting in character as the masked antihero while spoofing Kanye West’s reported “SNL” outburst.
“Listen up, Lorne Michaels,” he starts off, referencing the sketch comedy show’s mastermind. “‘SNL’ took my f***ing ‘Life of Pablo’ album without asking. Now I’m bummed.”
He goes on to parody the list of people whom Kanye reportedly called himself more influential than during his backstage tirade, which included Stanley Kubrick and Picasso.
“I’ve got the biggest opening rated-R movie of all time. Are they f—ing crazy?” Ryan continues, as Deadpool. “I’m 50 percent more influential than MC Hammer, Apostle Judas Iscariot, the KIA Sorrento, 10 percent more influential than Barbara Bush, the Muppets, Bob Newhart. 60 percent more influential than the iPhone 5, shredded cheese and Dr. Ruth.”
Apparently even mercenaries know their limits, though.
“7 percent less influential than the Urban Dictionary,” he admits.
The clip arrived just days after an online petition asking Michaels to offer “Deadpool” a shot at “SNL” hosting duties surfaced.
“Actually, Deadpool was going to host back in the ’90s, but then this happened. Thank god Tom Hanks was available,” Ryan joked on Twitter.
As previously reported, an inside source told Access Hollywood on Wednesday that Kanye’s “SNL” antics were blown out of proportion.
While reports cited that Kanye was shouting at the show’s production crew, the source clarified to Access that the rapper was “venting his frustration” to his own personnel and no one else.
“He did not yell at ‘SNL’ staff,” the source said, explaining that Kanye’s reaction was sparked by unexpected and “dramatic” set changes he discovered shortly before he was scheduled to perform.
Adding, “It should be understandable why he was upset after being completely blindsided.”
“Deadpool” certainly took the box office by surprise, pulling in a record $132.4 million its opening weekend.
