Seal Cites ‘Irreconcilable Differences,’ Asks For Joint Custody Of Kids In Split With Heidi Klum

Just days after Heidi Klum filed for divorce, Seal has filed his own papers to end his marriage to the supermodel.

Klum filed for the official split on Friday, two months after the couple separated. She asked for sole custody of their children. But in Seal’s filing on Tuesday, he asked for joint physical and legal custody of them.

Both parties cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

Klum and Seal have four children together – Leni, 7 (Klum’s daughter from a previous relationship), Henry, 6; Johan, 5 and Lou, 2.

Last year, Seal opened up to Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush about how the couple told their children about their split.

“We talk to them, we tried to explain, as best we could, what is going on,” Seal told Billy.

“The discord?” Billy asked.

“Just explaining to them that things will be different, you know, without going into too much detail,” Seal replied. “[That] things will be different… but a lot of things won’t change.

“And the main thing is to make sure that they feel that they’re loved, make sure that they understand that their parents love each other, make sure that they understand if there are any changes, it is absolutely nothing to do with them,” the singer continued. “And it won’t change the amount of time – and – in actual fact, it may even improve the amount of time that we spend with them – quality time – because it’s not the amount of time, as you know being a family man yourself, it’s the quality of that time.”
