Sean “Diddy” Combs Encourages Kids To Stay In School

PHILADELPHIA (September 19, 2006) —- The principal at Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin High School wanted a speaker who would get students’ attention.

That speaker turned out to be rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Combs showed up in sunglasses and flashy jewelry yesterday but his message was quite serious.

Combs told the students that this is the time in their lives that will dictate their future. He called some students on stage and talked to them one on one about their goals and told them to work hard and stay in school.

Combs said, “Take responsibility for your future. No excuses!”

The school district plans to use Diddy’s message in an anti-truancy campaign.

Principal Christopher Johnson says he wanted to bring in someone who comes from the same type of background as the students at the school, someone the kids would sit down and listen to.
