Selma Blair On Playing ‘Extraordinary’ Kris Jenner

The verdict is in! Selma Blair is having a blast playing Kris Jenner on “American Crime Story.”

Blair spoke to Access Hollywood on Saturday about her role as the reality matriarch in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming anthology series, set during the O.J. Simpson trial. Although the actress confirmed production is only “a few episodes in,” she revealed her faith in the project was intact long before cameras started rolling.

“It’s not something I can really talk about because Ryan Murphy’s so mum on his scripts, but it’s a small part for me and a joy to be a part of this,” she said. “I love everything Ryan does, I also love Kris. It’s good to have work in LA with someone that you think is so extremely talented. “

“American Crime Story” follows the infamous courtroom saga that captivated the nation in the mid-’90s, following former football star Simpson’s arrest and eventual acquittal for the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman. Jenner was formerly married to Simpson defense attorney Robert Kardashian, who will be portrayed by “Friends” alum David Schwimmer. Murphy will serve as an executive producer and writer, along with directing the pilot episode.

Despite Jenner’s current pop culture dominance, the show will depict events long before she became a household name. Blair revealed that taking on such a well-known persona prior to their fame wasn’t as easy as it might sound.

“Kris is someone that is so present in our lives that you feel like you can just watch her mannerisms, but it’s from such a different time,” she told Access at a fundraiser for the Charlotte and Gwenyth Gray Foundation in Los Angeles.

The “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde” star added that “Keeping Up,” so to speak, with the mogul helped shed useful insight and breathe new life into her character.

“I have talked to Kris and I find her to actually be an extraordinary woman. So strong and caring and beautiful,” she said.

“American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson” will premiere in 2016 on FX.
