Selma Blair Shares Birthday Gratitude For ‘Forgiveness’ After Plane Incident

Selma Blair
is sharing gratitude for a fresh start.

Days after
her emotional mid-flight outburst made headlines, the actress turned 44 and
posted a personal message on social media letting followers know she’s looking
ahead.

“And so what should I wish ?” And he whispered it in my
ear right then. I ask my angel for it to be true every day. And to do the same
for others,” Selma wrote on Thursday, captioning a sweet Instagram photo
of herself cuddling with her 4-year-old son, Arthur, over a birthday cupcake.

“And a sincere thank you to all those who sent me the spirit
of loving and forgiveness. It is a new birth year. Thank you,” she added.

Selma’s words seem to reference Monday’s scary ordeal in which she
was removed from a Delta airliner at LAX while on her way home from a vacation
in Mexico with Arthur and ex-boyfriend Jason Bleick, Arthur’s father.  A
source told Access Hollywood at the time that Selma seemed “happy and
healthy all weekend” prior to the episode.

On Tuesday,
the “Legally Blonde” star spoke out for the first time since the
incident and explained what went wrong.

“I made a big mistake yesterday,” Selma said in a
statement to Vanity Fair. “After a lovely trip with my son and his dad, I
mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to
say and do things that I deeply regret.”

Adding, “I take this very seriously, and I apologize to
all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the
people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes
mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very
sorry.”

Selma was in good spirits earlier this month at the Chrysalis
Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles, telling Access Hollywood she’d be “really
happy to work with the old gang again” if asked to be a part of the
“Cruel Intentions” reboot.

“Sarah Michelle Gellar … is family to me,” she added
of her co-star in the 1999 cult classic – and it appears the feeling is mutual.

Sarah honored Selma’s birthday on Thursday with a throwback
snap of her own, posting an Instagram of the two accepting their Best Kiss
honor at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards.
