Sherri Shepherd Ready To Ask For ‘Dancing’ Votes From Barbara Walters, President Bill Clinton

“The View’s” Sherri Shepherd will fulfill her dream of hitting the ballroom on Season 14 of “Dancing with the Stars” — and she’s ready for it.

“We’re working on it as we speak,” Sherri told Access Hollywood correspondent Tim Vincent on Tuesday of her first routine with partner Val Chmerkovskiy. “I looked at my competition and I definitely said I am going to step up my game.”

Glad to have Val by her side, Sherri said those who think that at 44, she won’t be able to bring it to the competition, should get ready for a big surprise.

“It is fighting talk. When somebody throws down the gauntlet and says, ‘You too old,’ I was like, ‘I got your crayons in my purse and a coloring book on my way out, I’ll leave them in my dressing room,’” she laughed.

Sherri will be pulling from her arsenal of friends when it comes to the votes – from her “View” co-hosts, to a former head of state.

“I need Barbara Walters like I’ve never needed Barbara. I’m calling President Clinton, former President Clinton, he’s a fan,” she said.

Val, who rejoins the “DWTS” fold for his second season of competition (he left the competition early in Season 13 with Elisabetta Canalis), thinks Sherri stands to be a contender.

“She’s incredible,” he told Tim. “She picks things up very fast. Obviously there are certain challenges, but, it’s important to have challenges.

“Who said that?” Sherri chimed in. “He keeps saying, ‘We gotta set the bar high. I’m like ‘Why!’”

The biggest challenge, however, will be balancing her duties as a “DWTS” competitor and a co-host of “The View.”

“We do the dance and then on Tuesday is the results show and we will take a red eye out and do ‘The View,’” Sherri explained. “I’ve got a little bit of a disadvantage because I do have to travel back and do hot topics, so I have to be mentally together for ‘The View’ and physically together for ‘Dancing with the Stars.’”

“Dancing with the Stars” Season 14 premieres March 19 at 8/7 on ABC.
