‘Significant Mother’ To Pay Homage To ‘Weekend At Bernie’s’ (First Look)

“Significant Mother” is about to have its own “Weekend at Bernie’s.”

Terry Kaiser, who played the original dead guy – Bernie – in the 1989 film, will make a cameo on The CW comedy.

“That is the fourth episode of our nine episode order and we pay homage to a little film called ‘Weekend at Bernie’s,’ and the gentleman who plays Bernie comes and does a little cameo for us,” Jonathan Silverman, who starred alongside Andrew McCarthy in the 1989 film, and plays dad to Josh Zuckerman’s character in The CW show told Access Hollywood.

And we’ve got an exclusive first look at photos of Terry from the episode, airing on August 24.

But, Terry won’t be playing the stiff again. That job goes to Josh, who plays Nate Marlowe in the series, a young Portland-restaurateur who finds out his best friend Jimmy (Nathaniel Buzolic) is dating his mom (Krista Allen).

Josh’s character “accidentally ingests some drugs and he kind of passes out and we’ve got to drag him through the episode and keep him looking alive and happy,” Jonathan told Access at the CBS/Showtime/The CW party earlier this week as part of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour.

“I had to do a lot of research,” Josh joked.

The “Significant Mother” homage to “Weekend at Bernie’s” will air on August 24 at 9:30 ET/PT on The CW.
